One Simple Way to Protect Yourself From Cancer: Eat Certain Vegetables, Including Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce, Asparagus, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kale, and Spinach
Cancer is running rampant among the Baby Boomers, and they’re getting it at much younger ages than their parents and grandparents. It’s time we all took this fact seriously and started protecting ourselves from this dogged disease.
One thing we can do is eat more foods that protect us from cancer. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
Any form of the tomato, i.e., raw, stewed, juice, soup, as sauce in casseroles or on pizza.
In one study, researchers found that the intake of tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato juice, stewed tomatoes, tomatoes in casseroles or with pizza was associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer (PC) for consumption frequency greater than 10 versus less than 1.5 servings a week. Tomato intake was also associated with a 53% reduced risk for advanced PC (Stages III and IV) and aggressive PC, which means that the cancer has gotten out of the prostate and the prognosis is mortal.
Another food identified with significantly lower PC risk was strawberries.
In another study, men whose intake of broccoli was greatest, at more than one serving per week, had a 45 percent lower risk of extra-prostatic disease cancer than men whose intake was least, at less than once per month. Cauliflower was associated with an even greater benefit, with a 52 percent reduction in risk experienced by men who consumed the vegetable more than once per week.
The gluocinsolate-derived compounds contained in cruciferous vegetables modify cancer risk by protecting cells from DNA damage, inducing apoptosis, influencing genetic expression, and inhibiting prostate cancer cell proliferation.
All such studies have shown that broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, asparagus, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and olive oil have especially strong protective ingredients against aggressive prostate cancer, as well as other cancers in both men and women.
Each of these has shown to be protective against breast cancer in women.
These foods have been associated in previous research with protection from colon, breast, prostate, thyroid, cervical, and other cancers, as well as with slower disease progression.
Foods to stay away from as much as possible are burned meats and burned fats of all types, processed meats, such as hot dogs and luncheon meats, processed sugar, soft drinks, phony foods such as margarine and egg beaters.
Eat real foods; eggs are one of the only perfect foods. Consume real butter and olive oil for your fats, never anything fake.
Onions and garlic have also shown anti-cancer effects, as well as other fruits besides strawberries; those are bananas and apples and blue berries.
For Men: It is mandatory for your prostate that you take a supplement of zinc, VE, selenium, and Saw Palmetto. There is no doubt that men who do not take these will end up with prostate cancer, because there is no way to get them in the diet. Thus, you must supplement.
For Women: It is mandatory for breast and uterine protection that you take a supplement of zinc, VE, B-Complex, VC, selenium, Saw Palmetto, and/or Evening Primrose Oil or Black Currant Oil.
Another powerful cancer protector is the combination of Grapeseed Extract and Resveratrol. You can get this combination from the Life Extension Foundation.
