Today, a very kind man wrote this to me:
“You look like a 40s pinup girl
You have the face of a 40s movie star and the body of a pinup girl! I can imagine your picture painted on the side of an airplane.”
He was referring to this picture of mine.
Someone, from the field of science if I’m not mistaken, said that ladies feed and live from nice words and compliments. So you can figure that this comment simply melted me. I showed it to Don. He started googling for wallpapers with shiny and unpainted airplanes of the old.
But what’s that a pin-up girl?
A pin-up girl, also known as a pin-up model, is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as popular culture. Pin-ups are intended for informal display, e.g. meant to be “pinned-up” on a wall. Pin-up girls may be glamour models, fashion models, or actresses.
The term pin-up may also refer to drawings, paintings, and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos (see the list of pin-up artists). The term was first attested to in English in 1941; however, the practice is documented back at least to the 1890s.
Well, I’m just a (less and less, must admit) modest mom of four. I was 42 when Don shot the aforementioned picture, and never thought of myself as a pin-up model. But God is good and my loving hubby knows how to manipulate images (with the GIMP — almost forgot to mention this “so important” detail 😉 ). It also seems that gentle strangers from the webs are very kind with their comments, giving Don new ideas. So here we go with a new wallpapers category in my Dang Space — currently hosted under Healthy Sex in Marriage. Have fun! And thousand thanks to the Idea Man!
