How to Rewire and Reverse the Aging of Your Brain and the Type of Narcissist That You Can Interact With

We already know that visualization, meditation, and prayer can rewire the brain in about sixty-days, unless drug use or physical damage is involved, and then it takes longer. Thirty-minutes per day for about sixty-days is all that is needed. Ninety-days may be called for to carry out a complete rewiring in the case of long-term drug abuse.

By rewiring the brain researchers mean that, Negative Nellies and Normans, to provide one example, are better able to control the symptoms of anxiety, worry, and depression when they take part in positive meditation and visualization. Meditating on positive things can help people see the world around them in a more positive light, not through an unrealistic beam, but it simply enables them to see the positives around them whereas before they could only see the negatives.

According to several published studies and one that appeared in the January 2011 journal of Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging, a team led by Massachusetts General Hospital researchers reported that an eight-week program called mindfulness meditation (essentially positive meditation) was able to make measurable changes in parts of the brain associated with memory, sense of self, empathy, and stress.

This is particularly important information for drug addicts and addiction centers, because drug abuse (especially opioids) severely damages the emphatic/sympathetic part of the brain, making addicts act like conscienceless psychopaths. Meditation is an excellent method to help reverse the damage on the brain that drug addiction does to users. It is a positive and very simple route to reviving the pre-drug addicted person’s brain to help them act like normal people rather than self-centered, cold-hearted psychopaths who have no conscience.

Previous studies discovered structural differences between brains of meditators and those who had no history of it. In particular, researchers observed a thickening of the cerebral cortex in regions associated with attention and emotional integration, a summary of the study at Science Daily reported a while back.

Other studies have shown that meditators and visualizers have increased brain densities in the hippocampus, which is known to be important for learning and memory, as well as structures associated with self-awareness, sympathy/empathy, and the ability to look at oneself in an introspective manner. The latter is something that neither psychopaths nor narcissists can do.

Most narcissists, though, do have at least some sympathy/empathy for others, unless they are also psychopaths — and then they do not. However, in the case of narcissism, narcissists are going to put their lust for attention, admiration, and affirmation first in their lives, to the degree that they are narcissists. That degree certainly has to be the determining factor that tells us whether we can interact with a narcissist or not. The higher the degree of narcissism, the less chance it is to have any dealings with them.

As a quick side note regarding narcissists, in my opinion, Donald Trump would be the type of narcissist that you could deal with, because in the past he has shown a startlingly high amount of sympathy toward others and, unlike most narcissists, seems to have a fetish for keeping his word and being honest in his dealings. He also keeps friends and makes a lot of long-term relationships. Hardly anyone who works for him can find anything negative to say about him. These type of narcissists do certainly exist, because I have known one and he was a very good friend who had similar traits to Trump. He definitely loved attention, though.

Each study has emphasized that the visualization and meditation have been about positive things, non-judgmental things, things that humans consider good.

This is not a new idea. At least the meditation is not. Although Eastern religions are given the credit for inventing mediation, the Bible also recommends it.

Now, for the purpose of finding out whether there is any difference in the brains of people who meditate and those who do not, scientists scanned the brains of 50 American men and women who regularly meditated and 50 who did not.

The scans were analyzed and the images and provided an age for each brain based on its physical condition.

As a rule, across the board, the non-meditators’ brain age and actual age were the same or older, so a 55 year old’s brain looked like it was 55 or older.

However, the meditators’ brains were younger than their years, with the average 50-year-old having a brain that looked like a 42- or 43-year-old’s.

The benefits were especially good for the older meditators, for every extra year past 50, they spent mediating knocked an extra year off the age of their brains.

Researchers concluded that meditation is beneficial for brain preservation, along with a slower rate of brain ageing throughout life.

US and Australian scientists said it isn’t fully clear how meditation protects the brain but that it is possible that the intense mental processes trigger the growth of new cells and connection.

Neurologists do, however, know that the happy, feel-good chemicals the brain produces when something is done to the brain that it likes (or loves), such as receiving or giving a compliment, come flowing out when people do positive meditation, visualization, and prayer. Those chemicals in turn produce positives effects throughout the whole body.
