To Be Topless

After two weeks of fighting a flu virus, I am back on my blog. Not for long though. Today, I’ve just burnt a vacuum cleaner with the spiders from the corners and from under the beds. Don did the laundry, the dishes with little help from the kids, and -most important- the shopping. I did nothing. Thank God for automation!!

The calendars tell me that this should be the last Tuesday of February. The windows speak of another story: it snows like in Christmas movies, especially those by Hallmark; it snows like it never did this entire winter. And I gotta get lunch ready.

Oh wait, what was this blog about? To be topless! Yeah, the meaning of it. Look at this photo below – taken today, three years ago. Posing topless then meant a different thing to me, a more discreet approach to nudity, a soft approach. But today? Not many options on the table, not much poetry left in my mind. Other than the lyrics from ‘Englishman in New York’ by Sting.

If “manners maketh man” as someone said
He’s the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say
Be yourself no matter what they say
Be yourself no matter what they say
Be yourself no matter what they say (oh, I’m an alien, I’m a legal alien)

  1. In my opinion, being topless should be liberating for a female. With all the talk of equality between the genders, and the “free the nipple” movement. I do not understand why a woman’s bare chest is sexualize while a man’s is perfectly acceptable in most cultures. A woman’s breasts should be celebrated and revered not shunned. If you really think about, this is where most of us received our very first meal. Doris, I salute you for having the courage. Thank you for sharing.

    1. And thank YOU for commenting.
In my personal opinion, clothes in general are an addition that reminds us how vulnerable our bodies are and how scared our minds.
